Armstrong International is a family-owned company founded in 1901 and managed by the fifth generation of the Armstrong-Bloss family. Today, our global enterprise has more than 1,500 employees serving the world. As thermal utility experts our goal is to improve energy efficiency and safety for our customers and help them achieve their carbon reduction pledges. Our European branch created in Herstal (Liege) in 1969, serves more than 40 countries (Europe, Middle East, Africa) with a network of more than 60 representatives and 5 direct sales offices (France, Italy, UK, Germany and Russia). Our service teams work on behalf of major industrial groups (petrochemicals, chemicals, agri-food, pharmaceuticals, etc.), for different types of services: * Engineering studies to identify and implement energy and CO2 saving solutions * Making thermal distribution systems and networks more reliable * Solution implementation with performance guarantee In order to continue our expansion and meet the growing demand of our customers to decarbonize their factories, our Service department is looking for a Thermal Engineer in energy efficiency for our Belgian office.

Identify and develop technical solutions for our industrial customers to help them reduce their consumption of fossil fuels, CO2 emissions, specially by identifying heat recovery projects. In particular, you will be able to use the pinch method and size solutions integrating high-temperature industrial heat pumps. The identification of opportunities can go through a phase of audit or thermal mapping in which you will be in charge of the collection and analysis of customer data, the modeling of process and utility thermal needs and the estimation of the operational costs involved. For each solution studied, it will be necessary to calculate the energy and CO2 gains as well as estimate the investments and the payback. For some industrial sectors where the reliability and safety of thermal installations is a priority, you will be required to conduct specific studies to identify the sources of failures or inefficiencies and propose corrective and optimization solutions. When the feasibility of the projects is confirmed by the customers, you will be in charge of the detailed design of the solution to allow its implementation on the site. You will also be responsible to manage projects implementation from the choice and selection of equipment, subcontractors and installations works follow-up till the commissioning on site. You will be part of a team of European engineers spread over different offices. The realization of the studies goes through a “field” phase for the collection and measurement of customer data, frequent trips to our customer sites, primarily in Belgium and occasionally in Europe are to be expected. They are followed by periods of analysis and office reporting that can be done remotely.
