General job description

Etherna has developed a proprietary and integrated set of platform technologies that enable the development of next generation mRNA therapeutics. Our platforms include mRNA construct design and optimization, proprietary lipid nanoparticles (LNP) and formulations, and in-house process engineering capabilities for mRNA drug substance manufacturing.

We are now seeking a Market Research Analyst to support our business development efforts across both our CDMO and proprietary pharmaceuticals branches. The successful candidate will work within our newly formed Commercial Team to help identify key clients for our CDMO business as well as to position our novel technology offerings in the pharmaceutical marketplace. The team’s market models are integral in shaping business strategy and driving the planning process within the company. In this role, your work will (a) directly impact the strategic and marketing decisions, (b) deliver underpinned data of our company performance, and (c) will be integral in setting company-wide strategy.

The Market Research Analyst will research and track global drug pipelines, existing and developing drug research, FDA and EMA drug approvals, significant grant and private sector investment events within the RNA and LNP sector as well as the competitive landscape for specific manufacturing services providers, platform competitors and major Pharma companies. The successful candidate will be able to analyse qualitative data, trends, strategies and competition with the objective of increasing competitiveness and advising senior management on market trends. The role requires the ability to autonomously conduct market research projects directly or in collaboration with contractors and junior staff. We are looking for someone who wants to take a fresh, modern approach to conducting and delivering disease market insights and solutions to the life sciences industry.

Responsibilities and duties

The Market Research Analystresponsibilities and duties shall include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Maintain databases & data systems and Interpret data, analysing results using statistical techniques. Manage the data collection process, ensuring quality of data acquired.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems from primary or secondary sources and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
  • Conduct primary and secondary market research and author market research studies for our product solutions; Conduct custom market research projects.
  • Support the marketing and communications department in the creation of sales and marketing content (e.g., blogs, video animations, case studies, white papers, infographics, LinkedIn campaign content) to support business development and sales activities by providingcompetitor insights.
  • Provide competitive analysis on various companies’ market offerings, identifying market trends, pricing/business models, sales and methods of operation; Identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Identify prospective CDMO customer companies and institutions and key contacts within these organisations and work with CDMO BD to coordinate outreach.
  • Provide reports of all findings and movement within the industry; Dynamically represent data in the appropriate graphs, charts and other visuals to relay meaning/findings.
  • In conjunction with our Financial group, develop and maintain comprehensive model-based market sizing and forecasting models
  • Develop expertise as the Lead Analyst in your domain to generate insightful market-based analyses for key executives
  • Manage historical market share performance and develop competitor analyses for key stakeholders
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key members of the markets and business groups to identify and share relevant data points and knowledge
  • Participate in client meetings and conference speaking engagements; Travel requirement of roughly 20%

Job requirements


Master’s degree in Business/Finance, Economics, Engineering, Science or other related discipline (MBA, PhD or other graduate degree a plus).


  • 2 years of experience in Healthcare/Biotech market analysis;
  • International experience preferred

Other qualifications, skills and abilities

  • Working knowledge of data warehousing, modeling and mining; Strong knowledge of secondary research with the ability to monitor tracking tools to report findings.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Understand and enjoy working with large amounts of data to identify important trends.
  • Must be comfortable working with scientific concepts, especially pharmaceuticals.
  • Strong data visualization skills. We are looking for not just the ability to create various charts and tables but the imagination and creativity to convey data, information, and insights in a visually compelling and easy-to-understand format.
  • Strong English language writing skills are a must. We value brevity in writing and the ability to convey ideas and insights in pithy and impactful statements
  • Successful candidates should (1) be comfortable networking both within and outside of Etherna, (2) have strong analytical skills and (3) possess solid presentation skills to deliver various market insights to key Etherna business group and geographic market decision makers.
