For the decommissioning program in Doel and Tihangewe are currently looking for a competence manager in the domain of expertise“Characterization, Treatment & Conditioning”.
The mission of the competence domains is to deliver all the expertisenecessary to supportthe different subprograms and projects within the decommissioning program to ensure a professional evacuation of the material and waste.

As a Competence manageryou will be part of the “decommissioning common team” based in the Engie Tower in Brussels.


  • You develop solid expertise and know-how in the domain of “Characterization, Treatment & Conditioning”and develop a network on which you can rely to support you in your mission.
  • You set up a competence mappingfor your area: you identify the availability of expertise and know-how within the Engie organization, but also beyond (third party companies, research institutes, …), and make the necessary arrangements to contract expertise outside of Electrabel.
  • You install a networkfor your domain with participation of all relevant stakeholders within the Engie group (in particular Tractebel Engineering and Laborelec).
  • You develop governance, standards, guidelinesand best practices in order to support the different projects and subprograms of the Decommissioning Program, ensuring common implementation on both sites (Doel/Tihange).
  • You act as the technical counterpartfor the authorities.
  • You contribute to the strategic orientation and coordinationof framework agreements and contracts with the main external stakeholders involved.
  • You are responsible for the estimation and forecast of global staffing needs and trainingneeds, attendance to seminars and workgroups related to the competence area you are managing.
  • You have an engineeringdegree or equivalent through experience, with a technical background in the nuclear industry.
  • You are willing to further develop the technical expertise in the competence domain “Characterization, Treatment & Conditioning”.
  • You have experience in leading/facilitating a networkand with the managing a group of experts.
  • You act as a community leader
  • You are innovative and dare to think “out of the box”; you can develop a strategy and translate your ideas into concrete realizations.
  • You are flexible and creativein finding technical solutions.
  • You are a team player who encourages collaborationbetween people.

  • You are able to identify and implement possible synergies with other teams and Competence Domains;
  • You are fluent in French or Dutch and in English, with good presentation skills for communication events both orally and in written.
